Medical College Block

About Us

At Mamata Academy of Medical Sciences (MAMS), our goal is to emerge as a leading research institution and a national model for medical education by integrating innovation, interdisciplinary research, and scientific excellence. We recognize that academic teaching and quality research are inseparable.

MAMS is equipped with state-of-the-art research infrastructure to support a wide range of research activities. In addition to the college and hospital laboratories, the institution also has an Animal Laboratory facility. Our research team collaborates with national and international institutions to translate research breakthroughs into innovative products, ensuring the production of high-quality research.

To foster research and training partnerships, MAMS organizes scientific events that promote interactions between academic scientists and industry professionals. These events encourage a multidisciplinary approach involving basic scientists, clinicians, and epidemiologists, enhancing collaboration with universities, research organizations, hospitals, and companies at regional, national, and international levels.

Our research priorities align with key public health goals aimed at benefiting the Indian population, with a focus on areas such as Diabetes, Cancer, Infectious Diseases (including COVID-19), MeterioVigilance, Pharmacovigilance, Hypertension, Nephrology, Neurology, Thyroid Diseases, and Medical Education. These initiatives are supported and coordinated by the Institute Research Council and the PG Training Committee, under the oversight of the Institute Human Ethics Committee (IHEC) and the Institute Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC).

MAMS also encourages medical undergraduates to participate in the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Short Term Research Studentship (STS) Program, which aims to enhance research skills and understanding of research methodologies. This initiative provides students with the opportunity to collaborate on ongoing research projects or undertake independent research. MAMS ensures its students are actively involved in these ICMR projects, contributing to their academic and professional development.

Among the medical colleges in Hyderabad, MAMS stands out by securing the highest number of ICMR-STS Projects, with 10 projects selected in 2024.
